This episode of the Next Lawyer Up podcast features attorney Pete Barry.
Pete is based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota but he has a nationwide consumer law practice, Barry & Helwig, LLC. Pete is a lawyer's lawyer and I mean that literally. He is a much sought after speaker wherever consumer lawyers and people who want to know about consumer law gather. On top of that, he taught consumer law as an adjunct law professor at the William Mitchell College of Law. Finally, he has privately taught over 1000 lawyers (actually way more than that but, as you'll hear, he stopped counting at 1000 so the math is easy!) in all 50 states all facets of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) at his FDCPA Boot Camp.
I have attended his boot camp twice and what I tell anyone who asks me about it is this: Pete's boot camp has been, by far, the single best legal training that I have ever received. I include all other CLE's and law school in that comparison. It is riveting and fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Even though it is long (and I'm not one who can usually sit in a classroom for a long period of time before fading out!) it covers all the ground a consumer plaintiff's lawyer needs to know in a practical, concise and interesting manner that allows good cases to be brought as soon as you leave the course. Believe me when I say that I have never heard anyone who has attended Pete's boot camp say anything different. Pete is a major figure in the consumer law world in our country and he is one of those guys that people like to be around. I enjoyed spending some time with him and talking about his life.
