Notable Famous Quotes, and Some Not So Famous

Attorney Suzanne Shinn"Love people and use money. Don't love money and use people." Joseph Prince

I would like to say that I coined that phrase. I love hearing great quotes and memorizing them. The above quote is one of my favorites. I thought that since this is another new year, 2016, that I might share some notable quotes. Perhaps some will make you chuckle, perhaps some will be worth memorizing (like the quote above), perhaps some even inspirational, but hopefully all of them will merit thinking about.

"Make a decision today that you'll be proud of tomorrow!" Anonymous

"A new idea is first condemned as ridiculous and then dismissed as trivial until finally it becomes what everybody knows." William James

"In the presence of love, miracles happen." Robert Schuller

"The time is always right to do what is right." Martin Luther King, Jr.

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched…but are felt in the heart." Helen Keller

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great always make you feel that you too, can become great." Mark Twain

"As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." Solomon

"Hind sight is always 50/50." Pat Dye

"The old lessons (work, self-discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, fighting to achieve) aren't being taught by many people other than football coaches these days. The football coach has a captive audience and can teach these lessons because the communication lines between himself and his players are more wide open than between kids and parents. We better teach these lessons or else the country's future population will be made up of a majority of crooks, drug addicts, or people on relief." Paul "Bear" Bryant

"You do the Hokie Pokie and you turn yourself around, and that's what it's all about." Alfie (when asked "What's it all about, Alfie")

(Just kidding-I made that up)

"It's just as easy to marry a rich man as it is to marry a poor one." Anonymous (but definitely said by innumerable parents to their children)

"We wish our days away and pray the years would stay." Suzanne Shinn

"There are two theories to arguing with a woman. Neither works." Will Rogers

"A diplomat is a man who always remembers a woman's birthday but never remembers her age." Robert Frost

"The reason women don't play football is because 11 of them would never wear the same outfit in public." Phyllis Diller

"I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it." Groucho Marx

"If you haven't got any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble." Bob Hope

"Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway." John Wayne

"I thank God for all the freedoms we got here in this country. I cherish…even the rights to burn the flag…but I'll tell you what, we also got a right to bear arms and if you burn my flag I'll shoot you. But I'll shoot you full of love like a good American." Johnny Cash

"With God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE, only BELIEVE." Jesus Christ

May the year 2016 be filled with hopes realized, dreams coming true, greater joy and peace experienced, and most of all, gaining a deeper appreciation of just how blessed we are to live in such an amazing time in history and a country where we can enjoy freedom and God's rich goodness.

God Bless you!!
