The Honorable Jenny Harris Henderson has become the newest United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Alabama. She was sworn in on February 16, 2015 at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. Judge Henderson will preside over cases in the court’s western division which is based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Judge Henderson graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 2001 with a B.A. in English and Political Science. She then attended the University of Alabama School Of Law and received a J.D. in 2004. While in law school, Judge Henderson was a member of the Alabama Law Review and Order of the Coif.
Following law school, Judge Henderson served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Thomas B. Bennett who currently serves as Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Alabama. From 2005 – 2008 she worked for the law firm of Burr & Forman LLP. From 2008 until her appointment she was with the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP.
As a United States Bankruptcy Judge, Judge Henderson will oversee a large docket consisting primarily of consumer bankruptcy cases. Her background, academic achievements and experience will undoubtedly provide her with the knowledge and temperament necessary to do a fine job in this position. She will make an excellent addition to the bench of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama.
